WCRS's #1 Player Named
The votes have been tallied and the winner of the Western Carolinas League Player of the Week has been named. It was awarded earlier today to William Lash for his great week at the plate.
The Spartanburg right fielder took home the trophy by banging out 11 hits in 20 at-bats for a .550 batting average, driving in 7 runs and scoring 4 times.
In 50 games this season, Lash has compiled a .415 batting average with 68 hits and 6 home runs. He has also scored 36 times and knocked in 31 runs.
Lash's Strong Week Earns WCRS Trophy
It was some kind of week for William Lash of the Spartanburg Phillies. First he hits the heck out of the ball, ripping it at a .722 clip and the next thing you know, he is voted the Player of the Week in the Western Carolinas League. Last week Lash went 13-for-18, chalked up no home runs and 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Not a bad week's work at all.
This year, Lash has hit at a .423 clip with 11 RBIs, 2 home runs and 9 runs scored.
