Murphy 5-for-6 Against Elmira

Pawtucket shortstop Brian Murphy had a big day at Dunn Field against the Elmira Pioneers. The 26-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 6-0 Red Sox triumph over Elmira.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Murphy said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Brian Murphy singled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 13th.

This year, Murphy is hitting at a .342 pace with no home runs and 13 RBIs. He has played in 29 games and scored 10 times.
