Beene Stops Toledo Cold, 5-0

The Toledo Mud Hens were almost helpless in their 5-0 loss to the Rochester Red Wings and hurler Fred Beene. Beene kept the Mud Hens confused all game, spinning a 7-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Beene," Toledo manager <Omari Dunbar:coach#239> said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 27-year-old right-hander had no walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Beene said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
