Minnesota Silences Kansas City, 1-0

Before the game, Jim Perry said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Municipal Stadium, the Twins pitcher blanked the Kansas City Royals, 1-0.

"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Perry said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my slider even when I was behind in the count."

The Minnesota starter held Kansas City scoreless, giving up 6 hits while registering 4 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Royals manager <Charlie Metro:coach#11> said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."

This year, Perry has gone 4-5 with an ERA of 3.43 and has 53 strikeouts in 99.2 innings.
