Bluefield Announces Altobelli Will Retire

After what he called a "long and rewarding" career in professional baseball, Joe Altobelli has announced he will retire.

The Bluefield Orioles first baseman said it wasn't an easy decision to make, but this season will be his last and he's now "content" with his choice to walk away at age 38.

During his 166-game career Altobelli has batted .210 and collected 54 hits, 5 home runs and 28 RBIs.
