Duane Shaffer had an impressive outing at Hartwell Field, hurling the Mobile White Sox to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Asheville Tourists.

"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Asheville skipper <Jerry Flores:coach#321> said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
