Kinston Snaps Kusick Streak at 20

Lynchburg center fielder Craig Kusick came into today's game against the Kinston Eagles on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Eagles did their jobs well, beating the Lynchburg Twins, 10-2, and holding Kusick hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Craig did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Twins manager <David Yochum:coach#581>. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

On the year, Kusick has hit .361 with 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 23 runs.

Kusick Keeps Hit Streak Alive

The Lynchburg Twins stopped the Salem Rebels, 5-4, and Craig Kusick collected a base hit yet again. The Lynchburg center fielder finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20.

"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Kusick told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games."
Craig Kusick walked in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

During the current season Kusick is batting at a .371 clip with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. He has played in 31 games and scored 22 times.
