5-for-7 Day for Timmons

It was a good day for the Blues at Blues Stadium as they clipped the Shreveport Braves, 5-4. It was tremendous day for Jimmy Timmons, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-7.

"I don't know what to call that," the Memphis third baseman told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."

Jimmy Timmons singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Michael Magness in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.

Timmons's current batting average stands at .306 and he has chalked up 2 home runs and 9 RBIs.

Arkansas Goes Scoreless Against Magness, Braves

Fans at Braves Field witnessed the Shreveport Braves blank the Arkansas Travelers, 3-0, on the strength of a superb effort from starter Michael Magness. The Shreveport right-hander allowed 5 hits in recording the shutout.

"Michael was good today, but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Shreveport manager Josh Rollings said. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."

This year, Magness has a 1-0 mark in 1 starts with a 3.63 ERA. He has given up 16 hits in 17.1 innings, struck out 16 and issued 6 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .254 batting average against him.
