San Diego Sends Dukes to St. Louis

The San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. San Diego will part with 27-year old RHP Tom Dukes, while the Cardinals have dealt 23-year old minor league CF Bill Stein, 22-year old minor league RF Leron Lee, and 21-year old minor league 2B Ed Crosby.

"This one took a while to figure out," said San Diego general manager <Chris Giblin:coach#158>. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs."

Taking a look at his season stats for 1970, Dukes has made 34 relief appearances, recorded 6 saves and compiled a 3-4 won-lost mark with a 4.44 ERA. In pitching 52.2 innings, he has totaled 39 strikeouts and 15 walks.
